3D-Infographics Ecosystem-based Adaptation
The aim of this publication, on behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), is to show that Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) is the most sustainable and cost-efficient solution to help to adapt to climate change while providing additional benefits. EbA is a strategy that utilizes natural solutions and ecosystems to increase resilience and reduce the vulnerability of people and the environment to climate change.

The graphic had to be modular in order to function as a whole, as well as the building blocks individually.
This building block shows the benefits of Ecosystem-based Adaptation in water management.

It is remarkable that natural coastal ecosystems like corals reefs and salt marshes reduce wave height by up to 70 %.
This building block shows the benefits of Ecosystem-based Adaptation in water management. for cities.

For instance, Ecosystems are essential for regulating water run-off in cities. Green spaces counter the heat island effect and can cool cities by up to 15 °C.
This building block shows the benefits of Ecosystem-based Adaptation in agriculture.
